Important announcement about Feed in Tariffs
Yesterday the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) released its Comprehensive Feed-in Tariff (FIT) Review. If you have had a proposal from Sun Switch to install solar PV we would urge you to take advantage of the higher rates by installing before 12 December.
DECC proposes to cut the feed-in tariff from 43.3p to 21p per kWh, for systems below 4 kWp. DECC has decided to apply the lower rate to all systems installed after 12 December 2011, meaning those considering solar power now have just a few weeks to install systems.
The consultation closes on the 23 December 2011 and it is expected that DECC will announce their decision in January 2012. Below we outline some key information:
- The information on the Sun Switch website at www.sunswitch.co.uk does not incorporate any of the implications of the DECC announcements. This will be changed over the next few weeks.
- In the meantime, to read about the implications in full you should visit the special section on the Energy Saving Trust’s website.
- If you have had a proposal from Sun Switch to install solar PV and you wish to go ahead you should get in contact with the team or with your Sun Switch System Designer as soon as possible. We only have limited capacity to install between now and 12 December 2011 and we will not be taking orders where we are not confident of installing successfully in time.
- If you are interested in having a survey for an installation post 12 December 2011 then you should be aware of the DECC proposals and the reduced generation tariffs that will available. You should refer to the Energy Saving Trust website for information on this.
